Harry Harrison (born Henry Maxwell Dempsey, March 12, 1925) is an American science fiction author best known for his character the Stainless Steel Rat and the novel Make Room! Make Room! (1966), the basis for the film Soylent Green (1973).Harry Harrison began his career as a commercial artist in the 1940s working chiefly in comics as an illustrator and writer. Eventually he wrote "Rock Diver" which apperaed in Worlds beyond in 1951.

Harry Harrison is one of our favourites, I think I came across him first with the Deathworld books, fast, violent interplanetary SF, as a teenager I thought they were great!
