John Ramsey Campbell (born January 4, 1946 in Liverpool) is a British writer considered by a number of critics to be one of the great masters of horror fiction. His most motable primary influence was H P Lovecraft. His first published work was "The Church in High Street" in Dark Mind and Dark Heart in 1962.

I came to Campbell through some of his Mythos related stories and then picked up "The Count of Eleven" which is really great contemporary horror story.
