Fantastic
Literature - setting the standards for out of print on-line
bookselling. Welcome to our newsletter, if you have reviews,
comments or queries we welcome them. We publish the newsletter every
fortnight or so.Let
us know what you think. On our front page we have details of
new books just arrived, please
take a look.
Currently we are after a copy of Interzone 200 for a client, if
you have one for sale can you e-mail
us. Thanks - Simon
Watch Stephen King's acceptance speech
upon receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Booksellers
Association in Toronto, Friday 8 June - You

Many thanks to the dozens of you who
responded to the competition, we drew the winner on the 16th June
and sent a signed copy of the really excellent thriller "Season
of the Witch" by Natasha Mostert to Sue Gedge of Woodford Green
here in the UK. She knew that the Salem witch trials took place
in Massachusets, as did an awfully large number of you as well.
If you were one of the unlucky ones - you really ought to get a
copy as it really is an exciting, erotic and throught provoking
adventure.
Books to recommend for your readers:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and The Lord of the Rings Sketchbook
by Alan Lee. The latter not because of its incredible illustrations
but Lee's insight into his life and his approach to illustrating
The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings; and, of course, his work on
the film version.
And of course Ian Rankin's last Rebus novel will be released in
September - that's got to be a must read.

Hello Simon - More years ago than
I care to remember as a very young au pair girl living in rural
Cheshire ( mid-sixties) I remember reading a fantasy book for the
eldest girl. I don't remember title or author however. The story
was about some little people or fairie or such living in the caves
at Alderly Edge, and we lived quite close to there. I have thought
about reading it to my grandchildren, but I do need help to find
it. Do you or anyone else know this book? I would be really grateful
for a helping hand. I always enjoy the newsletter, thank you. Kind
regards Inge Lise.
(isn't this an Alan Garner book? the Weirdstone of Brisingamen
or the Moon of Gomrath? - Simon)
On Saturday 23rd June from 2pm Dean
Koontz will be signing copies of ‘The Good Guy’ from
his home in Newport Beach, California for customers at Waterstone’s
Piccadilly.
The LongPen TM – the world’s first long distance, pen-and-ink
signing device is the invention of Margaret Atwood. Carbon neutral,
and one of the most exciting developments in the literary world,
it enables booklovers from around the world to have contact with
authors they would never otherwise meet. LongPen TM operates over
the Internet, incorporating video conferencing to facilitate trans-Atlantic
conversations between writers and their fans.
Not only is this the commercial launch of LongPen TM to the UK
public, but the first time that this hugely prolific writer has
undertaken a signing event for UK fans: a genuinely groundbreaking
moment.
Now I have a problem with this - is this really a signing? Surely
the signing has to be done by the person in front of you? Or is
it me?
